Welcome to the Birmingham Railcar Workgroup's Website

We are a preservation group based on the Churnet Valley Railway in Staffordshire and are custodians of six 1950’s Class 104 Diesel Railcars. We are a volunteer organisation of roughly five members and our aim is to return all our vehicles to operational condition and run them in service on the CVR. We have been successful in returning two of these vehicles to service with work on the third currently ongoing. We’ve also recently gained a now annual gala weekend in September which you can attend to support us whilst having a day out in the process. Alternatively we welcome new volunteers into the group, as this is always a limiting factor in realising our aims. This website was set up in 2007 as a way of displaying our collection of vehicles more effectively to the public and if you have a website yourself you can support us (for free!) by adding a link to your site. Thanks for visiting.
