Llangollen Railway 104s
Three of the thirteen class 104 vehicles in preservation can be found on the Llangollen Railway in Wales. Located south of Chester, this 7 mile line is home to Llangollen Railcars, a similar group who preserve and maintain six two car sets, five of which form the fleet at Llangollen. Two class 104 vehicles, M50454 & M50528 are one of the 2-car sets in service, with M50447 currently being used as a static headquarters coach for the group.
| Vehicle | Type | Livery | Status |
| M50447 | DMBS | Green (plain end) | Stored |
| M50454 | DMBS | Green (full yellow end) | In service with M50528 |
| M50528 | DMCL | Green (half yellow end) | In service with M50454 |
All three vehicles were preserved and moved to Llangollen in 1993. All were in blue livery and M50454 & M50528 were returned to service relatively quickly. The set ran for a short perios in blue livery (also briefly gaining a blackpool "white stripe") before being repainted into green, a livery it has carried since 1994. The set has now worked almost 20,000 miles in preservation and is due for bodywork overhaul, a repaint expected in the next 12 months. M50454 has already received a new cab. M50447 was originally meant to be a spares vehicle but it became the headquarters coach for the group and has been restored on one side only and its condition may one day allow a return to running order.
