ADB975492 is a Mk 1 Departmental Equipment Van, which was converted from BSK 34589, to be part of the Inverness re-railing train. It was built by BR at it's own Wolverton works in 1955, and after operating all over the country on BR for years as 34589 it was renumbered to the current one when converted for departmental use where various modifications were made including a change in bodyside (there are no windows at all). The condition of the coach is good but a bit of exterior work will need to be done in the next few years if the vehicle isn't going to deteriorate. The vehicle arrived on the CVR many years ago as a S&T van for the Burgess family, but was purchased by the group after it was surplus to requirements. Recently, the vehicle has been stored at Oakamoor Sand Sidings, the eventual intention being to restore it cosmetically. The vehicle is still in Departmental Yellow with black chevrons round the outside and the interior is unchanged from when it came out of service. It is safe for the foreseeable future.
