Churnet Valley Railcars in 2005

After Initial introduction to service in late 2004, M50455 & M50517 ran the most intensive DMU service to date, with over 50 days in traffic, the most noticable being the introduction of Mid-week running in August, something the railway had never attempted before. The DMU proved so popular that it couldn't hold the volumes of people so extra capacity was requested by the railway. Having centre trailer M59137 already stored on the line, the decision was made to bring forward the restoration so in late 2005 work commenced. Click the thumbnail for a higher resolution image.
